The National Anti Fraud Network uses Protos to publish the Investigation Framework on its web site.
NAFN provides data and intelligence that support Local Authorities in their protection of the public purse. This does not just mean dealing with fraud but includes any type of debt recovery including Housing Benefits, Student Awards, Trading Standards, grant applications, false invoicing and internal investigations. Since its formation, NAFN has helped councils identify numerous frauds which have resulted in considerable savings to the taxpayer. Currently, approximately 377 Local Authorities in England, Wales and Scotland are fully paid up members of NAFN.
Investigation Framework
The investigation Framework has been documented using BPM|Protos and is available to members on the NAFN web site. This details all processes relating to an investigation into alleged offences. The framework allows members to navigate through the processes involved so they understand what needs to be done, not only that but at each stage of the process they can view the relevant legislation and download templates of forms needed to complete the task.
It was clear that to complete the Investigation Framework that process modelling software was required. The tool had to be intuitive and easy to use, create clear models that anyone could follow and be an interactive environment that linked to live resources. BPM|Protos fulfilled all of these criteria. Another factor in the selection was the quick response to queries and advice given by consultants from Pallas Athena.
Mark Astley, the Regional Intelligence Manager for the UK North says "BPM|Protos allows us to share good practice and provides an on-line training tool for new employees of our members".
After selecting BPM|Protos three members of the team attended a comprehensive two day training course at Pallas Athena. Immediately after the training was completed NAFN were able to model the processes, include all of the hyperlinks to documents and were in a position to maintain the processes themselves. The standard HTML report generated by BPM|Protos is immediately published to the NAFN web site for all members to use.
